The Gargoyle in the video below was scanned in our 3-d studio using three high resolution DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras. We used a blackout studio setup and 6 x lights. The object has full 360 rotation in all directions.

3-d render of 17 cm high moulded clay Gargoyle.

The cameras were mounted at different points around the rotating object.

In total the image was made up from 256 x “cameras” or photographic points.

The photogrammetry software analysed and processed the data, through many millions of calculations that cross referenced the images to create a data cloud that is eventually converted to a 3-d mesh, and finally the object itself.
