The Dragon’s Dream Project is a film project where-by two primary schools created animated films around the theme of a Dragon’s Dream.

The project was funded by Arts Council Wales and Welsh Government’s Lead Creative Schools initiative.

The children not only created the story-line and charachters , but also drew the characters and scenery, narrated the story-line, and even the sound effects. Beloow is an edited-down version of Gelli Primary’s “Dream”.

The project also benifitted with support from Rhondda Cynon Taff Arts Services, Cardiff University, Cyfarthfa Museum and Art Gallery.

Two animted films were screened at the legendary Parc and Dare Theatre, Treorchy, at a special event, 12th November 2019.

Penyrenglyn Head Teacher, Karen Jacobs, who gave a short speech after the event said she was blown away by the pupils hard work and “It shows what young people can achieve when given opportunity”. 

Gelli head Carol Flannery Davies added that Dragon’s Dream project, including the premiere, was an experience that the children would never forget.

Creative Director, Richard Jones of Vision Fountain, who produced the project said.  “An arts intervention like this in the Treorchy area, one of the more isolated areas, of South Wales, just goes to show what these young people are capable of, and I applaud the Arts Council of Wales and Welsh Government for making it possible.  But mostly I applaud the young learners. ”
