About the Project

Over the past 18 months, Wales: A Home From Home has brought together stories from Wales’ diverse communities in a multi-media celebration of cultural heritage and migration.

We have met and recorded the experiences of;  Descendants of Italians who arrived in the 1920s.  Yemeni families who lost loved ones while supporting the D-Day landings.

Iraqi Kurds who settled here in the 1970s. Sikh doctors and Hindu families who came from India via Kenya in the ’70s.

We’ve also met more recent arrivals; Syrians fleeing war, Ukrainian families displaced by the Russian invasion and Hong Kongers seeking refuge from political repression.

The migrants featured all call Wales home, thier Nation of Sanctuary – a place of safety for their families.

The project has captured oral histories, portraits, archive materials, videos, 3D models, and immersive 360° films.

The exhibition presents a fusion of traditional and immersive media.

As well as printed banners we have:

1) 360° video immersive global cultural experience – all captured in Wales

2) A virtual reality art gallery showcasing artswork and video portraits of project participants created by school children

Am y Prosiect

Dros y 18 mis diwethaf, mae Cymru: Cartref o Gartref wedi dod â straeon ynghyd o gymunedau amrywiol Cymru mewn dathliad amlgyfrwng o dreftadaeth ddiwylliannol a mudo.

Rydym wedi cwrdd â phobl ac wedi cofnodi profiadau disgynyddion o’r Eidal a gyrhaeddodd yn y 1920au, teuluoedd o Yemen a gollodd anwyliaid wrth gefnogi glaniadau D-Day, Cwrdaid Irac a ymgartrefodd yma yn y 1970au, a meddygon Sicaidd a theuluoedd Hindŵaidd a ddaeth o India trwy Kenya yn y ’70au.

Rydym hefyd wedi cwrdd â mewnfudwyr mwy diweddar gan gynnwys Syriaid yn ffoi rhag rhyfel, teuluoedd o Wcráin a orfodwyd i adael popeth ar ôl ymosodiad Rwsia, a Hong Kongiaid yn ceisio lloches rhag erledigaeth wleidyddol.

Mae’r cyfan bellach yn galw Cymru’n gartref, gan ei gweld fel Cenedl Noddfa — lle diogel i’w teuluoedd.

Mae’r prosiect wedi cipio hanesion llafar, portreadau, deunyddiau archif, fideos, modelau 3D, a ffilmiau 360° trochi.

Mae’r arddangosfa’n cyfuno dulliau traddodiadol gyda chyfryngau trochi. Yn ogystal â’r baneri printiedig, rydym yn cynnwys profiad trochi 360° o ddiwylliant byd-eang a’r oriel gelf VR sy’n arddangos gweithiau celf a phortreadau fideo o gyfranogwyr y prosiect, wedi’u creu gan blant ysgol.
