Vision Fountain and Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery held the first audio-visual heritage workshop with Ynysowen Primary School as part of the HLF funded Merthyr’s Black Gold project.  During the workshop the children drew items related to their coal heritage, recorded stories that their relatives had told them and undertook photography  workshops.  They took studio portraits of one-another and helped scan in 3-d some old heritage items. The all- day workshop went really well and we are all looking forward to the next one.  The audio and visual assets that we collected will be converted into a short mixed media film.

Above area few images from the workshops.

And below Arron shows objects that his grand-parents lent him that form the basis of their wonderful coalmining romance. (You’ll have to wait to see the film to know more)!

Below Arron, Callum shows a plate that is grandfather gave him. And right at the bottom is the 3-d scan of a miners lamp that Caydi brought to the session.
