Vision Fountain have started a project about Merthyr’s Coal Heritage called “Merthyr’s Black Gold” with project partners Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and the Heritage Lottry fund. Four primary schools and two scout troops in the area will be actively involved in the project. We will be teaching the young learners how to record their hertage and encouraging to narate family heritage stories, memorabillia and photographs all realeted to their coal heritage. We have already held introductory workshops and follow-on workshops at Ynysowen, Edwardsville, Cyfarthfa and Pant Primary Schools as well as Troedyrhiw and Quar Scout groups. The next stage will be the all-day audio-visual recording workshops for each group at Cyfarthfa Castle Museum.
