Taroune “Tiz” Buchi of Cardiff Metropolitan University has a large display of his photographic reportage as part of the “King’s of the Underground” project. Tiz’s photographs are exhibited in the main hall at Museum of Wale’s Waterfront Museum, Swansea.
Tiz undertook the work experience with Vision Fountain as part of his work photography course-work. Vision Fountain provided Tiz with practical experience working with our organisation, where he helped-out with our on-site project work, including 3D scanning of objects. We also assigned Tiz a project; we asked him to create a portfolio of images related to “King’s of the Underground”, with the promise that, if his project work was suitable, we would endevour to make it part of the six-month exhibition at The National Waterfront Museum, Swansesa.
Tiz was asked to illustrate, in his own style, the environment related to Wales’ “Last Generation of Coalminers”. He delivered a unique series of landscapes taken from The Taff, Rhondda and Afan Valleys.
“I did not stick to a particular mine or coal related theme. The brief wasn’t restrictive and enabled me to shoot in my preferred landscape format”. Tiz said, of the placement.
“This project represents an excellent example of how the creative industries and higher education can develop effective collaborations. Vision Fountain gave Tiz the valuable experience working with professionals at the intersection between arts and heritage.” Duncan Cook, Senior Lecture in Photography at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Mae Vision Fountain hefyd yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â myfyrwyr ac addysgwyr trydyddol. Roedd y prosiect “King’s of the Underground” yn ymwneud â’r ffotograffydd Taroune “Tiz” Buchi o Brifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd.
Gofynnwyd i Tiz ddangos, yn ei arddull ei hun, yr amgylchedd sy’n gysylltiedig â “Chenhedlaeth Olaf o Lowyr” Cymru. Cyflwynodd gyfres unigryw o dirweddau o Gymoedd Taf, Rhondda ac Afan.
“Nes i ddim yn glynu wrth gloddfa benodol na thema sy’n ymwneud â glo. Doedd y briff ddim yn gyfyngol ac roedd yn gyfle i mi saethu yn y fformat tirwedd roeddwn i’n ei ffafrio”. Meddai Tiz am y lleoliad.
“Mae’r prosiect hwn yn enghraifft wych o sut gall y diwydiannau creadigol ac addysg uwch ddatblygu cydweithio effeithiol. Rhoddodd Vision Fountain y profiad gwerthfawr i Tiz o weithio gyda gweithwyr proffesiynol yn y croestoriad rhwng y celfyddydau a threftadaeth.” Duncan Cook, Uwch Ddarlithydd mewn Ffotograffiaeth ym Mhrifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd.
