“Our Mountain”  is part of Arts Council Wales’ Creative Collaberation initiative that engaged with Rhigos Primary School and Pen-Pych Primary School using mixed media audio-visual techniques.

Around 60 children used photography, drawing, animation, achive photos, mapping, discussions and recordings to create a short film about their local community and the Rhigos mountain that lies between the two schools.

Project workshops, took place between October and March, in both schools and in the field. One of the projects outcomes resulted in the production of a mixed media short film.  The audio and visual assets and stories contained within the film were all produced by the year 3 + 4 (Pen-Pych) and year 7 + 8 (Rhigos) children, during the workshops.

The film called “Our Mountain” had a large screen opening at the beautiful, 105-year-old, Parc and Dare Theatre in Treorchy with all the children, parents, teachers and heads present.

The “Creative Collaboration” between Vision Fountain cic, Arts Council Wales, Pen-Pych Primary School and Rhigos Primary School was not only a wonderful experience, but most importantly helped to stimulate the participants’ oral and literacy levels, while allowing them to think creatively and fully engage in a high quality arts project of which they have ownership.

All involved would like to thanks Welsh Governemnt and Arts Council of Wales for this stimulating creative opportunty.
